| Canada needs to explore national space policy: Garneau
It's just a fact that providing clean drinking water to First Nations or getting serious about the environment does not, in the end, garner many votes for the governing party. We have an election campaign going full bore in Ontario and those subjects are hardly even mentioned at all by the candidates. The fact is that we can afford to do both if we stop wasting money on "one trick pony" interest groups, highly questionable artistic(?) endeavours, multi-culturalism and pandering to every conceivable "my rights" group that crawls out of the woodwork. I'm a conservative but my criticism goes as much against that party as it does against the liberals and the others. Our priorities on spending are so far out of whack, it's a wonder that anything productive gets done at all.
Warming 'inevitable' in Australia
I'm marrying a Finn... when it gets to 50 in Adelaide, we're moving to Helsinki! That is, if the sea currents still flow North and Scandinavia has a Summer every year... uh oh. Agree (0) Alert moderator Paul: 02 Oct 2007 4:40:26pm Takes a 2-3 degree rise in temperature to take out the Barrier reef and bleach all coral. But hey, good thing that isnt a problem Agree (0) Alert moderator Peterm: 02 Oct 2007 4:30:15pm I was another who was concerned with "climate change" until I researched climate changes in the northern hemisphere over the last 1000 years ( Greenland had forrests and grassy hills in the 12th century - today it is 90% covered in ice). One thing is certain - it will get hotter - then .... it will get colder (Howard or no Howard).
'Pizza! The Movie' is a terrific tale of the industry
Dorian now is working to get the 93-minute final product shown at about three dozen of Americas 1,500 independent film festivals. The goal is to have a film distributor buy the rights to it, show it at theaters and eventually reproduce it for DVD sales. Film documentary heaven "Pizza!" provides an in-depth look at the industry by addressing its history both in America and Italy. Cat Price visited Naples to film a few Italian pizzaioli in the city where commercial pizza got its start. Appropriately, however, more attention is focused on American pizza pioneers who turned the humble pie into a $33 billion-dollar industry. From aging pizza greats like Domenic De Marco, owner of Di Faras Pizza in Brooklyn, to Frank Carney, co-founder of Pizza Hut (and now a Papa Johns franchisee), seemingly everyone gets to present their takes on pizza.
