| Economists say odds of recession rising
With the latest numbers on jobs growth showing the U.S. economy deteriorating more rapidly than expected, the threat of a recession - and the measures needed to revive growth - has taken on a larger political profile. Friday's jobs report for December, showing a much weaker than expected net gain of 18,000 jobs, added to growing fears that the U.S. economy may be headed for — or already in — a recession. Forecasters were generally looking for growth of about 70,000 jobs. The unemployment rate jumped from 4.7 to 5.0 percent, which was also higher than expected. With evidence mounting that the economy weakened further than expected in December, Friday's report added to the political debate over how to address the impact of a declining housing market, rising energy prices and a tax policy that has the government spending more money than it takes in.

In fact, TMZ has obtained an appeal from Hof to American voters, which Hof hopes will, as he puts it, "lubricate Ron Paul's path to the White House."Unfortunately, Paul isn't on board with the program, because when we called his campaign manager to ask about the pimp support, he didn't sound too happy about it.Mark Elam says that Congressman Paul "didn't solicit" Hof and his hoes -- certainly not their business, nor their political support. He tells us that, to his knowledge, Hof and Rep. Paul haven't met, nor does Paul sanction any form of prostitution. As the libertarian-leaning candidate, Paul has been vocal in his support of states' rights, which, naturally, are amenable to the BunnyRanch and its business.

The main response of the state was to round up street children and put them in state institutions from where they either escaped (if it was possible to do so) or were released after some time to their families. Most children who escaped or were released from confinement returned to the street, often to be picked up and taken back again. Those institutions provided varying but generally poor standards of education, vocational training and recreation for the children. Internet Gambling Deserves a New Chance
Officers and board members of Internet gambling companies vetted and approved for trading on London markets—and underwritten by some of the globe's most respected financial institutions—have been taken into custody while on U.S. soil. And U.S. authorities have arrested online-payment company executives on specious charges of money laundering. It remains too early to tell how much this untenable war against Internet gaming will cost the U.S. in trade flows, innovation, and moral authority. But it is perfectly clear that it is time for America to stop pretending that the rule of law is a one-way street. .
